Hands-on approach to multimedia production techniques. Develops understanding of technical and conceptual tools for the basics of digital media, video editing, still image and audio file manipulation. Students create web portfolio to present their digital products.
Intro to Digital Media was one of my first courses in the program and quickly became one of my favorites. I was excited to develop my multimedia skills, and this class gave me the chance to work hands-on with tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro. I also took it a step further by learning Camtasia, a top eLearning video editing tool, and earning two certifications. Getting into animation with Animaker and diving deeper into Audacity for audio editing made me realize how much I enjoy putting different media elements together to create something engaging and useful.
For the projects, I decided to tie everything into one final multimedia piece instead of separate assignments. I used Photoshop to edit images, Illustrator to design a job aid, Audacity for AI voiceovers, and Camtasia to bring it all together into a training video on professional image and email signatures in business. I planned everything out with a storyboard so the final product felt cohesive and impactful. Adding an animated character alongside screencast elements made it more engaging and easy to follow. This class gave me a solid foundation in digital media and a better understanding of how to create high-quality training materials that keep people interested.
