In both my digital media design class and rapid development class, I focused on creating accessible learning environments by applying Universal Design Principles to my projects. In the video project for digital media, I implemented closed captions to ensure accessibility for learners with hearing impairments, adhering to the principles of flexibility and inclusivity. Drawing on Mayer's Multimedia Principles, I carefully balanced visuals and text to enhance cognitive load and improve learning outcomes, ensuring that content was presented in a way that supports diverse learning styles. Additionally, I applied Robin Williams' CRAP (Contrast, Repetition, Alignment, Proximity) design principles to ensure visual clarity and coherence, making the content easy to navigate and understand. In my eLearning prototype for the Bloomberg Terminal, I also used Universal Design strategies, ensuring the design was intuitive and provided options for learners to engage with content in different ways, from text to interactive simulations. These projects reflect my commitment to creating inclusive, effective learning environments that support a wide range of learners.
